Does anybody have or know where I can get a forend for a 1970's model 12 ga. Remington 870Wingmaster. The one I have has a chunk of wood out of it and needs to be replaced. I am told that I can order a new one but it will not match the stock. I really do not want to buy a set.

You can find all kinds of them on ebay in various conditions, on the early Wingmasters the forend rarely matches the stock, at least that's been my experience and I've owned many Wingmasters .

eBay is where I ended up finding mine. At any one time, there are some pretty good forearms, stocks and evem full sets on there. I ended up just buying a full set off an older Wingmaster. You'll find a lot of "Mall Ninjas" buy nice old Wingmasters at the pawn shop and quickly ditch the factory wood for some plastic folding stock. Usually the stock ends up on eBay. I sent the seller a message after I won the auction with some "suggestions" on packing the set so it would arrive in one piece.
