I'd like to put a peep sight on a 597 I'll be getting tomorrow morning. Does anyone know if they're for sure a drilled & tapped receiver? Also, does Williams make any kind of peep sight for the Remington 597 model?
Thank you to all who reply!

Yes they are drilled and tapped. Easiest bet will probably be to find a peep sight that will attach to a weaver base, although it may be tricky finding one the right height.

If it has the 11mm wide slot on the receiver for standard weaver rimfire scope rings, Williams makes a peep sight that clamps on those, with no adapters. On the Savage I got for the grandson, it was recommended to put in a taller front sight. They told me what I needed. I also got the peep sight option that has knobs on the elevation and windage instead of needing a screwdriver for target shooting. For hunting I would probably stay with the screwdriver slots. Good Luck
