Due to ongoing shoulder problems, I am thinking of going back to an autoloader; most likely an 1100, as they are reasonably priced (used) and plentiful. Break action guns are leaving me too stiff and sore the morning after I shoot a couple rounds and I worry about aggravating an existing condition.

I started out with an 1100 trap model 40 years ago and, to the best of my recollection, I shot the best scores with it. I don't shoot competition or handicap anymore, so I don't need anything fancy or high $$. Seems like an 1100 would fit my needs now.

Here's a couple of questions:

1) What barrel length is best? I've seen listings for 25" up to 34". Seems like I had a 30", but I can't remember for sure...

2) What is an 11-87? Better than an 1100 or lesser quality? Less recoil?

With a 28" barrel with screw in chokes you will be able to shoot skeet, trap and sporting clays. The 1100 and 1187 are are pretty much the same gun. A few minor differences. HMB

I too had to go back to a semiautomatic because of recoil. I have a spare Remington 1187 Premier Trap gun for sale. It has a 30 inch step rib barrel with a Trap Full choke tube. It is in like new condtion. It has a wire shell catcher and no other modifications have been made to the gun. Price is $650 including shipping to the lower 48 and a soft case.
