Picked up some of these empties after a club shoot this afternoon.

New to me - any reloading recipes out there?

Stars on head stamp say they are cheddite hulls.

Those primers look -whacked- even pierced. A better focus would tell us more.

Check the base wad against some known straight wall hulls.
Stick with lower pressure recipes. If you want higher pressure loads have them tested.

I took a closer look at those primers. They were hit hard, but no piercings.

"Hit hard" is a misnomer. What happens is as pressure builds, the cup material flows back around the firing pin, causing a visible indentation. It can vary, depending on your firing pin's maximum protrusion. There are parameters for both shotgun and rifle maximum protrusion.

Yep, halfmile, you’re totally correct. I should have said that the primers were “stressed” or maybe “challenged.” But, at any rate, they held up & weren’t pierced. Thanks.
