"Hit hard" is a misnomer. What happens is as pressure builds, the cup material flows back around the firing pin, causing a visible indentation. It can vary, depending on your firing pin's maximum protrusion. There are parameters for both shotgun and rifle maximum protrusion.
Yep, halfmile, you’re totally correct. I should have said that the primers were “stressed” or maybe “challenged.” But, at any rate, they held up & weren’t pierced. Thanks.
