I had the same problem and made the switch 8 months ago and it has made a huge difference for me. +Congratulations on making the successful move to a release trigger.

As an addendum, I spoke to Robert Paxton a while back and he said that after 15 years of shooting release triggers he had gone back to pull. Said he couldn’t explain it. He Is shooting primarily Helice these days. Anyone else successfully gone back?

Trying to switch now and struggling, so far after about 600 targets I am considering reverting. FRUSTRATING. The guys I shot with tell me to keep going it will come.
Getting old is rough

A lot of people get embarrassed about it- be someone who has fun with it. One local shooter (known for letting his trigger go) shot the trap house and centered the light on the back of the house. The club president ran out and yelled he just put that light on. The offender calmly said, “Looks like you put it in the wrong place.” Enough said- I got a chuckle out of that!
I was nicked in the knee by a single 7.5 ricochet when a “veteran” shooter shot the house. I confirmed he shoots release but didn’t have the heart to tell him about the errant BB.

I switched to a release over 20 years ago. It definitely helped my flinching for a long time.
However for the past couple of years, my flinch has returned. Now I cant set the trigger.
Frustrating...
I have a very good friend, who is an ATA All American and in the ATA Hall of Fame that helped me move to a double release. He now has to set the trigger with the gun open and hold it while he closes it and shoots. That might be the next step for you.

that seems like a lot of opportunity for a unintentional firing to me. Why the heck does he have to set the trigger before closing the gun?

I went to a release in my TMX when I was 27 after 11 years of release and a few double release i decided to try pull trigger and go back and forth this year i shot a pull trigger the whole season it was good till I had the 2 rounds were i flinch 5 out of 25 now im looking for a different guns and both will be release. I don't flinch as bad in singles but in doubles, sporting Clay's and helice it is bad. Tron congratulations on the release! To anyone that starting to flinch that is not a visual flinch try a release

Just curious about shooting sporting clays, skeet and doubles with release trigger. I feel I could shoot trap with release alright, but maybe confusing a little for release-pull-release again.

More common thank you realize. Mike Jordan was this way late in his career. I know of at least a handful who have to do this. Several more who can do it after closure but before mounting.
