Looks like October 1917 still has its admirers who advocate communist style takeover of private property. Workers in a workers paradise!

SEATTLE —

Seattle City Councilmember-elect Kshama Sawant told Boeing machinists her idea of a radical option, should their jobs be moved out of state

“The workers should take over the factories, and shut down Boeing’s profit-making machine,” Sawant announced to a cheering crowd of union supporters in Seattle’s Westlake Park Monday night.

This week, Sawant became Seattle’s first elected Socialist council member. She ran on a platform of anti-capitalism, workers’ rights, and a $15 per-hour minimum wage for Seattle workers.

On Monday night, she spoke to supporters of Boeing Machinists, six days after they rejected a contract guaranteeing jobs in Everett building the new 777X airliner for eight years, in exchange for new workers giving up their guaranteed company pensions.

Now Boeing is threatening to take those jobs to other states. “That will be nothing short of economic terrorism because it's going to devastate the state's economy,” she said.

Sawant is calling for machinists to literally take-possession of the Everett airplane-building factory, if Boeing moves out. She calls that "democratic ownership."

“The only response we can have if Boeing executives do not agree to keep the plant here is for the machinists to say the machines are here, the workers are here, we will do the job, we don't need the executives. The executives don’t do the work, the machinists do,” she said.

Sawant says after workers “take-over” the Everett Boeing plant; they could build things everyone can use.

“We can re-tool the machines to produce mass transit like buses, instead of destructive, you know, war machines,” she told KIRO 7.

Sawant says she was referring to “drones” when speaking of war machines. Still, she says even as they work on the lines, building airplanes daily, she believes Boeing workers are under siege.

“Workers have to realize, they have more power than they think,” she said.

Wow!

I'd sure like to have some of what she's smokin'!

How typical of communist socialists. Workers' paradise, huh?

What happens when suppliers refuse to ship to the worker bees?

What happens when Boeing turns off the lights and locks the doors?

What a maroon!!!

Best, Dennis

Sure they elected her. You seen the crap that has been taught in schools the last 30 years?

It's been 22 years since the collapse of that workers paradise - the Soviet Union. All the Commies didn't go away, they found refuge in US universities.

You would have thought at least One lame stream news media would have did a program on the 2oth anniversary of the collapse. You would have thought they would asked the Russian people if they wanted to go back? But no the ahole news media is enamored with the commies too.

ROFLMAO at Muddylake. Just because there's a minimum wage doesn't mean someone barely meets being worth $5/hr. In fact, there are people who are worth zero dollars per hour. Because their work performance is substandard or they have other problems and cannot hold down a job.

Conversely, there are people who are overpaid, because they have union protection for substandard work. Should we examine that issue?

The minimum wage of $15 an hour has nothing, really, to do with the machinists. The citizens of the city of Seatac, Washington, between Seattle and Tacoma, voted to make minimum wage there $15 an hour. This small town exists to serve Seatac Airport, and is located between Seattle and Tacoma.

In the first place the councilwoman has no busines interjecting herself and her views in negotiations between emplyer and employees, of which she is neither. In the second place taking over the plant would get them all in jail.

I find laughable her claims of their ability to "retool" the plant to create busses for mass transit. Her lack of knowledge, especially of logistics, is typical of the reason the Marxist economy of the Soviet bloc collapsed.

How this person ever got elected, even to this lowly position is beyond me.

So tell us, Midalake, how much is polishing the 'ol fire engine woth an hour?

go play horseshoes with your co workers.

Well it appears that you Halfmile think FireFighters are paid too much?

I am sure that many FF's from their palatial estates would have an issue with you!
