I have tried to find an answer to this question.
The only way to find out is try. Once the try begins you are stuck with the results, good or bad. Because the preperation to nickel plate the reciever you have to strip the finish, this is the make or break step in the process. If the finish removal works and leaves a surface that nickel will adhere to the surface it will be a good finish. Once you start trying to strip the finish if it doesn't strip easily it may become you take the failure to strip or you do more damage than can be believed to finish preperation to plate.
