I had a question and was looking for options on value.

This is regarding a sxs sidelock shotgun.

Which do you feel would have the greater value, or possibly equal??

They are the same gun model.
One is 12gauge with the boehler steel barrels and ejectors, and an uncut stock with original buttplate, but the ejectors need re-timed, and cosmetically it is quite rough..Wood needs work, receiver could be touched up, barrels are so-so looking.

The other is the same model but with the lessor steel barrels, extractors, but is 16 gauge...It is in fantatic condition, but has had a aftermarket pad put on it...

Thanks for opinions...

Internet Search: Böhler-Uddeholm is a large Austrian company specialised in producing tool steel, welding consumables, special forgings and strip steel. It was formed in 1991 as a result of a merger between the Austrian parastatal Böhler and of Uddeholm AB of Sweden. The company has production sites in Austria, Germany, Sweden, Brazil, Belgium, Turkey, China, USA and Mexico. As of September 2008 it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of voestalpine.

Böhler-Uddeholm was listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange between 10 April 1995 and 5 September 2008. In April 2007, voestalpine AG made a takeover offer for Böhler-Uddeholm - the bid was accepted by a majority of shareholders in June of that year. voestalpine completed a squeeze out of Böhler-Uddeholm's remaining shareholders in September 2008 to gain complete control.

So if the Bohler steel was manufactured in Turkey or China, how is it better than the other "lessor" steel? Perhaps I am showing my country of origin prejudice? For a gun I intend to shoot (and that is the only kind I own), the better condition gun has greater value. Just my opinion; your mileage may vary.
