Does anyone have experience with prisms in their shooting glasses? I have had a brain tumor removed and lost my left peripheral vision. I don’t see left angle targets. I guess my question is would a prism help? I have been to a vision clinic, but I don’t think the doctor understands trap shooting, he said I didn’t need a prism yet, maybe in 6 months. Any suggestions on a good trapshooting eye doctor in Iowa would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

You might try contacting William Padula, although he is in CT.

He is the inventor of many of the aspects of the use of prismatic lenses for the correction of visual defects - he is a 'sometimes' shooter as well.

The only shooting eye doc in Iowa that I know of is Bob Sharp in Atlantic, IA. He hasn't shot targets for several years, but an avid waterfowl hunter. Good guy, fun to be around.

Johnny,
I didn't do very well with the peripheral vision test. I couldn't see any flashes in the left lower side.

Thanks to all who replied, maybe there is still a chance for me to break a few more targets. I shot my first registered targets in 1972, hard to give up, but you can't break what you can't see!! Thanks for the name Maltz, I will give him a try.

Thanks, Mike

Mike,

I would be happy to help if I can. I also started in 1972.

Have them send me a copy of the visual field. I've played with this before. We may be able to adjust hold points and POI to help.
