Some were threaded and others were silver soldered on. As Flash said, get a different barrel rather than trying to remove it. Actually the Polychoke is quite useful in the field. Dale

don't want a new bbl. at this time. this one has a matted rib. i'm going to end up with a cylinder bore and use it for skeet. i'll also be looking for skeet wood or trap wood

Cut it off and crown it right behind the choke. If you remove it there will either be threads or a turned section at the end of the barrel. Dale

i thought about cutting it off , and, probably will. i'll try a little heat and see if it will unscrew. if not it will be cut off. i want to try to re sell it. so i will put it in the lathe and cut out what isn't supposed to be there

Hacksaw 101........it ain't rocket science....a file and cold blue completes the process....ps, do it close to a rib post or anywhere on a solid rib........m

I had the Poly cut off my 870 then Tru Choke tubes installed. Simply buying another barrel and keeping the Poly barrel is probably the best solution.

It seems a real shame to remove a Poly Choke. They were very popular in the 1960s. I agree with OldGoat........just get another barrel.

i don't want to turn this project into a "money pit". done that too many times. i don't hunt so i have no use for the poly choke.
