The Main Street Inn in Pinckneyville has closed. The owner, Barbara Williams, is in bad health and decided to shut it down and it has been sold but will not open as a motel but be torn down. Barbara operated it for many years (1960's) with her husband and then by herself after his passing. It was a home away from home for street rodders, hunters, fishermen, construction workers, threshermen, and trapshooters for many years and she will be missed. Many of the threshermen had stayed there for 50 years and the rooms were passed down from father to son. Barbara kept every reservation in a ledger, never a computer, and she didn't miss a thing. Barbara is a special person and treated all of us guys like her sons. She and the Main Street will be missed.
