I have a friend interested in buying an MX-8 Special receiver I am not using. It has been re-blued/rebuilt with new locking block and perfect condition. 90,000 s/n.
Need opinions of value without forend iron or trigger.
Want to be fair to him and I.
Opinions?

I'm going to say $1000-$1200?

In the last 2 years I've sold a MX2000 R/I for $2500, Mx10RS R/I/T for $2750 and a Grand America R/I/T w/ wood for appx. $2500 (I recieved a few rifles in trade)

Im going to say a good condition type IV iron is worth $800-$1000 while a reciever is $1000+ depending on which model. This is of course friend to friend, trapshooter to trapshooter etc. Retail add $500 +

BTW that MX10 top single I bought off you a few years ago was the hardest hitting Perazzi I've ever owned. Totally changed my outlook on choke tubed barrels.

What would a type 3 reciever be worth?
If you're talking about one with the top lever release pin at the 12 o'clock position (vs the current 9 o'clock position), probably less. If it's one of the even earlier ones with it at the 3 o'clock position, a lot less. How much less is open to some debate.
