The shiny part you see in the bottom of my TM1 receiver came loose. It is held in by a small spring on it's underside. I have fixed it since pic was taken. My question is, what is it's function? My guess is it's some kind of recoil lug since the bottom of barrel has a tang that rests up against it when barrel is closed.

That is the ejector stop, from what I can gather. So it does actually absorb some recoil, but it is from the ejector.

That piece you mention on the bottom of the barrel lug, is the fin that is part of the ejector, on the bottom.

My take on this is that it keeps the ejector from rubbing on the receiver face and firing pins as gun is
opened and closed. (!!!???)
