Looking at a Perazzi MX 1 for doubles. Before I pester the seller could I get some info from the experts here?

Is the frame identical to the MX 8?

Does the trigger drop out or is it fixed?

Is the rib tapered or same width from front to back?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is an; MX8 usually spec'd for live bird shooting. The rib on the on that I have is tapered.
MX1's are not common, and even less so with barrels that have not been mutilated. If it has the original chokes and you decide that you don't like it, let me know.

MX1 was made for pigeon shoot, I had one years ago, it fires top barrel first, and choked accordingly.
Although it's a very nice gun, I still managed to lost a lot of money from using it. LOL

It is basically the same as MX8 with top first trigger. All parts interchange with MX8.

I know the older ones had flat ribs and fired too first, but most of the newer ones being made that I see alot of people shooting in my circle, have the ramp rib, that starts taller in the back like 8mm then tapers down towards the muzzle, they shoot 70/30 with stacked beads, and are labeled “Alto” =high.
To see them take a look at EuroChasse website, as he imports a lot of them designed for ring sports or trap…
Very slick set-up, I know of at least 4 people that shot them bbls and love them…
But as Perazzi are made to order, you can essentially order a mx8 receiver and spec out the same alto bbls, and I’ve seen brand new Mx-1 ordered with flat ribs, so it’s not safe to say that all mx1’s have a ramp rib if that makes sense.
Perazzi is truly a bespoke gun and can be ordered almost however you like…

Steve,
What was the reasoning for having the top barrel fire first ?? Especially on a Pigeon gun. Game guns fire bottom first as a rule.

That's an interesting question. The theory was top barrel makes more muzzle jump so you'll have an advantage of shooting the raising bird out of the box or hand throw pigeon with the first shot.
Therefore, the chokes were arranged accordingly.

Firing order is easy to change, but reversed choke arrangements are not. Buyer has to realize this before buying it.

The MX1 and the MX2 here both have the 14mm (I think) high rib which was standard on those models
Like Steve said, the top first thing was popular for a while when shooters thought that the bottom barrel shot softer. I also have a late 70's flat rib Mirage pigeon gun shoots top first and I like it just fine too.
