The Pennsylvania State Sportsmen's Association in Elysburg, home to the biggest trap shoot in the state and one of the largest state shooting event in the U.S., is nearing the end of a two-year, $600,000 upgrade.

The 53 traps across the vast shooting grounds have been replaced and other improvements will be ready for the first shoot of the new trap season, the three-day Keystone Open May 15-17, according to Mike Schuler, president of PSSA, and Skip Klinger, shoot manager.

The replacement of the trap machines with the new PAT traps was completed on schedule in spite of a late spring and adverse weathers conditions.

The improvements compliment the new concrete pads that were constructed on some of the shooting banks last year.
