The following is a list of words or phrases that should be banned, based on their mindless over-use for the past year or more:
Maverick (as in overused by the McCain campaign)
From Wall Street to Main Street (or variations thereof)
Green or Going Green
Carbon Footprint
Economic Meltdown
Change (as in overused by the Obama campaign)
Locavore
I know, right?
Outside the Box or Thinking Outside the Box
Its Not Rocket Science
Like (like, you know, every other, like, word that, like, comes out of my, like, daughter's, like, mouth.)
You Know? (see "Like", above.)
Sort of (the British use this as a filler in sentences as often as we use "you know" or "like")
Literally ("Literally" isn't a word you use for emphasis. It's a word you use when you say something that shouldn't be interpreted figuratively.)
Whatever (as in, "Like, you know, literally, whatever…")
Totally!
