Yes its in the tranny, check website above.
Drop the pan, pull filter, install new filter & gasket....refill & drive.

well they make a replacement (aftermarket) filter for all toyotas, however, I know that the trucks have a screen that you clean and re-install. I would think the cars are the same. ask toyota to be sure. oz

It is true that most usually those screens are all metal made & can be pulled & cleaned. If its full of metal shavings its best to replace it though.
The pan gasket does need to be replaced and they are cheap enough. Many newer cars now have a spin on filter just like your oil filter that makes it so much easier to do & for just about $9-$12 as they are much different than an oil filter and have a different sized spin on hole so you cant use a standard oil filter so you cant mix em up.
