I am a retired Department of Defense civilian employee(Quailty Assurance Specialist- i. e. Government inspector).

I think that all of you are reading this wrong. What is being discussed is groupings of current DoD civilian employees that are being designated as emergency essential and/or deployable to a combat zone in the event of a bigger emergency than is currently taking place.

There are a number of current DoD civilian personnel serving in or near Iraq performing the same type of job that they were doing in the USA.

In fact, there is a possibility that someone is reviewing my old personnel records to see if I might fit into some useful role in the event of a major conflict. This would only mean that I would return to full-time employment in my previous job series doing the same or smiliar functions as before retirement. The location could change if I were needed in another geographic area.

I DO NOT think that this is addressing a quasi-martial law enforcement body. I DO NOT think these people would be called upon to interact in ANY MANNER with the civilian population of our country regarding legal or lawful actions.

I am also a retired Army Reserve SGM. That designation also permits me to be returned to activity duty if the military so desires. Would I be called upon to perfrom some functions against the civilian population in a manner that might be considere martial law? I don't know, but if that comes about I MAY HAVE A MAJOR PERSONAL PROBLEM. I support the Constitution and think that I know right from wrong. I'm not sure that all we are doing in this country today is right or best for the nation.
