How much of whats happened in this country today did many say could never happen? Death panels will have the power to basically decide who lives and dies. That power is something only God should have. With what I have seen from Obama...he cannot be believed in anything he says and he is willing to do anything to achieve his goals. When Sarah Palin and others warned of these death panels the Obama supporters ridiculed them. But, I understand the death panels are part of Obamacare. As far as Oprah....why would anyone make such as statement unless they really felt that way?

Dr. Howard Dean, he of the stupid rant, who once railed against Sarah Palin for using the term "death panels' changed his tune yesterday 11/26/2013. He now says that the un-elected panel WILL be able to make life and death decision over whole groups of Americans simply by manipulating the reimubsements for doctors and hospitals. They can make reimbursements so low that no doctor or hospital will do the procedures hence, death to those who need them to save their lives. Others who need these procedures to give them a modicum of relief and an improved life will also be condemned.
Palin WAS and IS correct. In the name of saving money, American citizens will be condemned to death or to reduced life comfort. How come the Obama government does not care about the many other ways it squanders the taxpayers money? Maybe fewer food stamps spent on beer and cigarettes would save enough money to give someone a new heart. Perhaps fewer free cell phones in the 'hood would save enough for someone to get a new hip or knee.
The truth is that the Obama administration echoes Oprah's call for older Americans to die so "minorities" can get more free stuff.
I challenge anyone to disprove the above.

birdogs....you are 100% correct. No one on the left will be able to prove you are wrong....they will play the race card or attempt to ridicule you as they did Palin. Obamacare is designed not only to provide healthcare for those less fortunate but support the drug and alcohol habits of those who won't or can't work while Obama gives passes to those that have supported financially his socialist agenda, which is destroying our way of life. Unemployment is highest , wages are lower and none of his failed policies have worked...much like him. And those of us who do work pay the price.

One other thing which no one mentions; the "subsidies" offered by the government are paid for by the US taxpayers. Thus, Obamacare mandates that US citizens purchase health insurance which the government deems appropriate NOT the purchaser. The resultant higher premiums, co-pays and deductables will dramatically increase insurance costs for millions of Americans while decreasing services as a result of goverment's interference in the doctor/patient relationship. Then, to compound this felony, the taxpayer has to pay for the "subsidies" for individuals who the government deems too poor to pay for their own insurance. A double whammy for the un-subsidized taxpayer and small business person.
Obama is trying to throw sand in our eyes by using the word "subsidy". It is as if that money falls from heaven rather than being foreably extracted from the pockets of working Americans. It is a "bait and switch"; "now you see it, now you don't".
The reason for Obamacare was that millios of Americans were not covered by health insurance. I submitn that buying them insurance and giving it to them would have been cheaper and less disruptive to the American economy and the culture than passing this law. Instead, even more people are losing their coverage and in a few months even that number will increase.
So what has this debacle accomplished? The answer is, "nothing positive for the American people at large but but a huge vote buying scheme for the Demcrats, funded by the people who are negatively affected". What happened to "government by, for and of the people"? Is that a only memory?

I agree with your paragraph #3 birdogs and I believe that anyone who is entitled to free Obamacare should be subject to mandatory drug testing. Obamacare not only supports addicts but the drug dealers that supply them. Those capable should be taking employment training classes or be required to seek employment. The ACLU of course will claim that is against their constitutional rights but what about those of us who work being forced into involuntary servitude to pay for the addicted and lazy? ed

Obamacare is simply a scheme to put millions onto health care rolls by increasing rates, adding taxes, and rationing what will now be limited facilities and medical staff.
There is NOTHING that is "AFFORDABLE" about this act UNLESS you are one of those getting a freebie.
I hope the young people who voted for this crap are dismayed when they find out how much they have to pay. The question is whether the Dems are going to put this off past 2016 now, since they're already trying to push it past 2014 to avoid the consequences.

YSR, you're already paying for other people's health care, and you've been doing so for years. Now you're going to pay a lot more, both in direct insurance costs and thru taxation. As most thinking people concluded as soon as the scheme was proposed, we can not add 35 million poor and or lazy people to the pool, and add tens of thousands of new bureaucrats to the process, and not have costs for regular folks go thru the roof. And the usual retort that "we'll make up those costs in savings because now we won't be paying for poor people going to the emergency room when their kids catch a cold" is just mindless. Think about it -- who was paying for that all along? Does anyone really think hospitals weren't already passing those costs on to the rest of us?
but hey, maybe the "efficiency" of the government running things will result in savings. Brilliant.

If the panel declines life saving procedures on the elderly, they will not have to keep paying them Social Security and Medicare. Look at all the money the country can save and redistribute to the leaches on government assistance. The food stamp program will survive and all it takes it to hand select who will die.

Obama has taken the incentive to work away by paying more to the dregs of society than they can make by working. He thinks REDISTRIBUTION will inspire those to get up and work or start businesses. Ain't gonna happen. Those that are truly needy though no fault of their own maybe. But the druggies, alcoholics and perpetual lazy will always be in that same boat, and it deserves to sink with Captain Obama going down with it. ed
