Obama Concerned About Growing Job Cuts; Pushes Green Agenda

(Washington, DC) -- President Obama says the government must move "urgently" to address the growing economic crisis. In a statement at the White House, Obama expressed concerns about the numbers of jobs being lost. The House this week considers a sweeping economic stimulus proposal that the new administration is pushing hard. Obama also expressed concerns about energy independence and global climate change. The President said the U.S. has chosen "delay over decisive action" for too long. He said the U.S. has the renewable energy resources to chart a new course toward energy independence.
Obama said the more than 800-billion stimulus plan will create new green industry jobs and energy-saving mandates. He said it will help reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil. Obama has instructed the EPA to allow California to impose tougher carbon dioxide limits. That will put increased pressure on U.S. automakers to move quickly toward development of more fuel efficient vehicles. The Bush administration blocked moves by California and several other states to impose tougher standards than the federal government has in place.

Where have you been for the last 20 years? The U.S. auto industry already makes a product nobody wants.

Didn't I read somewhere in the last month or two that the industry was already dying and that we would shoving dirt now if we hadn't thrown them a multi-billion dollar lifeline. Seems like the least we we should get for our money is a domestically manufactured fleet that gets good mileage, saves money at the pump, reduces our reliance on foreign oil and keeps our money here rather than in the hands of those who support our enemies.

He's not going to do a damn thing until he's assured of another term--he'll drag his feet, give inspirational speeches, blame everbody but himself and try to appear as if he's just being thoughtful and cautious----there's absolutely NO SUBSTANCE to the man--he's in WAY over his head.

"President Obama Does First Formal TV Interview as President with Al-Arabiya
January 26, 2009 6:29 PM

As special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell heads off to the region to begin work on negotiating a cease fire between Israel and the Palestinians, President Obama has sat for his first formal TV interview with the Arabic cable TV network Al-Arabiya, ABC News has learned.

The interview was taped this evening and is set to air at 11 pm ET, as Mitchell is in the air and on his way to the region.

Based in Dubai, Al-Arabiya estimates that it has a potential audience exceeding 23 million in the Gulf region."

Well, at least he's talking to the Arabs if not us.

Obama had better talk to the Arabs being as he is one of them and they donated enough money to his run for the White House (Now to be known as "The Crib") than any other organization in the free or not so free world ... Obama cannot possibly make all of the promises he made reality (even in 8 years) and he knew it when he promised them, but he still go elected so there are a lot of people who believed him and his pack of lies ... I still hear people saying "he's the best thing to happen to the United States since pop tops on beer cans", if you can believe that ... Its going to be a long 4 years and I hope this nonsense will end peacefully, for all of our sakes ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Cars and highways are going to be reserved for the elite. there will be not pollution problem since the masses will be biking or on scooters or public transportation.

Bombay will seem like a resort town compared to where we're going.

OBS, you wrote, "...Seems like the least we we should get for our money is a domestically manufactured fleet that gets good mileage, saves money at the pump, reduces our reliance on foreign oil and keeps our money here rather than in the hands of those who support our enemies."

That nobody will buy,,,,just how viable is that???

You want to keep our money here,,,,DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW AND PAY LESS,,,,think about that....there is the SMART solution!!!!!!

You people have it all wrong!
once these change take place you won't be able to drive cross country because your car can not pass the different state green standards. IF you want to move from state to state you have to sell your car with your house. in three years when the UAW owns the big three it will fail also. When government takes over private industry its tyranny.

The automakers need to just say no. No cars to California or any other state that mandates standards that the automakers can't meet without going bankrupt. Let Pelosi, Feinstein and Boxer explain that to their constituents.

This country tried it the capitalistic way and were pretty much handed our collective butts by business. America feels like business lied, cheated and stole from them and the country has no interest in business as usual at this point. You bet this administration is going to govern business way more than any that read this post is going to want. But honestly you can’t blame them, the other approach of hands off business doesn’t work either, look where we have gotten with that approach. Question becomes which approach is going to suck the most is all.
I personally hope Obama becomes a stunning success as president and this country thrives because of his policies. I say this because he is my president and this is the road we are going down and I hope it turns out great for all our sakes.
FYI: I voted Republican.
