Causes of the Civil War have been argued for years. Some say State's Rights, some say Slavery.

Lincoln was an anti-slavery advocate, but at his inauguration he said he would not attempt to change states that had slavery in place. The Emancipation Proclamation was not issued until 2 years into the war.

I believe the problem was the North did not like the South's self sufficiency.

Cotton and Tobacco were exchanged for what ever they couldn't provide for themselves, and they didn't really become involved in the usury system till the carpet baggers came along after the war.

Did they die in vain? Depends on your viewpoint. Popular history does not tell the whole story.

To show you modern historians views on the war, today at Gburg, along with Lincoln's famous address, they are honoring the USCT soldiers. The fact is, NO USCT troops fought at Gburg.

The Civil War started over States Rights. The southern states did not want the federal government butting into their state government. That is why they seceded. Lincoln did say that if he could re-establish the Union, he would do it any way possible, including letting the states with slavery keep it. Only later did he use the 13th Amendment to abolish slavery.

why would any president not want to stand were Lincoln stood 150 years ago and humbly read the Gettysburg address? I think that shows the lack of respect he has for our history and the office he occupies.
