According to a story in the Weekly Standard, the EPA is considering a petition to ban lead bullet snd lead shot.

The link should be above, linked in the Drudge Report, or here it is:

http://weeklystandard.com/blogs/epa-reviewing-request-ban-led-bullets

This should not be taken lightly by anyone who even thinks about owning a gun. If what the zealots in the Obama administration have done to employers are any indication, gun owners are next. Below the headlines are federal agencies full of extreme left wing zealots who have been appointed by Obama under the radar screen - most have been doing their damage in the employment arena (Dept of Labor, EEOC, etc), but you can now see that the EPA is getting in on the act.

It would seem that this cannot become reality in this election year, but THERE IS A PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD on this petition that should not be ignored.

Please follow up on this issue and keep as current as possible. Contact the EPA through the public comment cycle and contact your representative.

And remember this November that ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES.

It started with waterfowl. Did anyone think it would end there. Give a liberal an inch and they will take a mile. Government and government control can't help but grow like a cancer.

nvironmental Protection Agency Reviewing Petition to Ban Lead Bullets
Will the EPA infuriate gun owners--and seal the fate of Democrats on November 2?

Will Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson make a back door move to ban lead bullets the day before the November 2 elections?

Several environmentalist groups led by the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) are petitioning the EPA to ban lead bullets and shot (as well as lead sinkers for fishing) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Although EPA is barred by statute from controlling ammunition, CBD is seeking to work farther back along the manufacturing chain and have EPA ban the use of lead in bullets and shot because non-lead alternatives are available. But here's the catch: the alternatives to lead bullets are more expensive. A ban on the sale of lead ammunition would force hunters and sport shooters to buy non-lead ammunition that is often double the cost of traditional lead ammunition. A box of deer hunting bullets in a popular caliber could be upwards of $55.

Although the EPA could have dismissed the request due to a lack of jurisdiction, it is obliging CBD. The EPA has asked for public comment on banning lead in ammunition, and an EPA notice was published seeking public comment that closes on October 31. Jackson would then make a decision to accept or reject the petition on November 1. You might say that even considering enacting what is effectively a new tax on hunters and gun owners--seemingly the only non-liberal group the Obama administration hasn't yet intentionally provoked--is less-than-perfect timing for the already beleagured Democrats as the midterm elections approach.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), a trade association for the firearm and ammunition industry, has hit back against the petition sending Jackson a letter documenting why EPA has no jurisdiction and outlining the damage that banning lead ammunition would do to U.S. industry and jobs, conservation, and law enforcement. The NSSF estimates that more than 90 percent of hunters and sport shooters use traditional lead ammunition. If all hunters were forced to buy non-lead bullets that are made out of metals like tungsten, bismuth, and copper alloys, demand could easily begin to outstrip the supply and prices would go even higher.

Bill Clinton famously blamed the NRA and gun owners for sweeping Democrats from control of the House in 1994 after he pushed them to pass the Assault Weapons Ban. For Democrats, especially those in rural and conservative districts that are already facing voters’ wrath, gun control could once again be an issue that helps defeat them and swings control of the House and perhaps even the Senate to the GOP.

If I'm not mistaken, the EPA's decision also involved lead fishing weights. Was some agency trying to ban sinkers, too?

It will never end, we must stay prepared and vigilant.
I know that everyone is concerned but, not everyone acts upon what they hear.
Two things can be done to combat these walking bags of excrement.

1. Educate yourselves on what the bill number is and read the content of the bill if possible. Call your state representatives and your Governor or at least email them.

2. If they do not support your views or are not going to fight against such legislation. VOTE THEM OUT. Tell them clearly that everyone you associate with feels the same way. If you have a lib in office that thinks the sun rises and shines in Obama's backside, vote them out. VOTE THEM OUT.

Vote - Its the only sure option to stop the B.S.

Lastly, I doubt that there are many here that voted for Obama.
If you are one of these traitorous idiots. You owe myself and the rest of us
an apology.

When was the last time you heard of someone dying from lead poisoning? Does the word "Alar" come to mind. A reminder, thats when the school teachers told us and the kids that eating a Apple which was sprayed with Alar was going to "kill" you! Reeeeeeeeeeeeemember?

I read a week or so ago that the bill went down. Also it was not just the weights but the line also, I guess in the process of making the nylon line lead is added.
