We're doing that but these people (I happen to call them something that I won't put in writing) do not seem to listen. For a representative democracy, who do these clowns (not of the funny type) represent? I believe they know that the majority of people disagree with the billions being spent; but they'll end up voting it in anyway. It's despicable. Try giving the working people a tax cut; we can determine how to spend it. For me I would stimulate the shooting industry. BT-100dc
It's hopeless. This pork lfest is a done deal. All the Deomcrats(or almost all of them) will vote for this crap to stay with their party. The Republicans will just try to trim it some but in the end Obama wil get his pork barrel passed. This stupid crap will do almost NOTHING to help the ecomomy. It pumps BILLIONS into government pork projects that benifit socialist politics. The country is going down the tubes and FAST!!!! Our forefathers must be rolling in their graves!!!!!
Instead of aiming messages at all Senators and Representatives, we should be picking our particular ones such as Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor of Arkansas.
These are supposed to be "conservative" democrats that appeal to the common, main street people. There are other democrats that need to be put through the ringer and now. The forces of Washington are at work this minute.
We do not need to be preaching to the choir, we need to be hitting those such as Lincoln and Pryor.
Defeat it? You must realize: this stimulus package is what funds the political aspirations of the Ruling Class for the next 8 years. This bill represents 4~8 years' worth of vote-buying, influence-peddling, re-electing, "walking around money." If you want to buy yourself a career in Washington the next 4 years, the money necessary to do it is contained somewhere in this bill. Voting against it, is voting to choke off your own blood supply.
Obama's people are letting it be known, if you want to have any kind of career "playing ball" in Washington the next 5 years or so - Democrat or Republican - a YES vote on this package is a pre-requisite. In short...it's "PAY TO PLAY." They're telling Republicans - if you pledge to vote NO on this, we'll try to make sure none of the proceeds come to your district.
The only people who can afford to vote NO on this, are "safe" ones who have no hope of having any political impact the next 4 years, anyway. In other words, Republicans from VERY safe districts, who are positioning themselves to pick up the pieces in say, 16 years, once the pendulum eventually swings back their direction and Republicans are back in power. That's VERY long-term thinking.
There just aren't that many Congressmen in that position. If you're in a "Jesse Helms district," sure, you can do it. But if you're from a typical suburban district, with teeming masses of economically hurting constituents, clamoring for the Government to "Do Something," you cannot vote NO on this. You will attempt to extract some meaningless, face-saving concessions on something like tax cuts...and then "tuck-tail" and vote YES.
We're gonna make us a pot of STONE SOUP, fellas...and if you want a taste of the finished product...you gotta toss your carrots in.
