The Doc.put me on Ambien 6 months ago. I still wakeup in 3-4 hrs. & can't go
back to sleep. I've tried every natural supplement that's made & it has no
effect what so ever. Any "Magic" formulas you can think of!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your help. Dave
I have beeen up for over 36 hours I was thinking on taking a nap but just had to reply to your thread before I went to lay down.
Ok if you get 3 or 4 hours of sleep a day then that is all you need unless you are a young one but I have always since I was in my 20's only required only 3 or so hours of sleep to function the next day by the way I got over 28 years experience in the 3 or so hours of sleep to function the next day.
My brother in law had to go to the hospital and sleep so they could observe him. They found hde had "sleep apnea", a condition that made him wake up before he got to the dream state(Rem Sleep) which is the part that rejuvenates you.
The doctors are recommending that he gets a machine with a mask that makes him sleep more soundly.
They said a lot of people have it and don't kjnow it except they are tired all the time.
No coffee or caffeine after about 3pm. Reading a book in bed for an hour, with a cup of chamomile tea (I get mine at Vitamin World stores.) No TV. And the best of all, Herbal Sleep Aid herbal supplement from Bronson (above.) Phil E
Wow, in a rare moment, the guys of ts.com have actually been pretty helpful above.
First, you may very well have a medical condition so the following assumes you've been checked out by an M.D. and you DO NOT.
If that is the case, you probably are suffering from stress or lack of fulfilment in your everyday life or internet addiction.
I'm going to assume you are not addicted to the net and are surfing all night (at least not every night).
Hopefully you are married. If so, never look at porn. If you look at porn you will need viagra because our wives don't look like porn girls.
I have suffered insomnia for most of my life. After finally getting it licked I was nearly killed in a car accident and the nerve and spinal damage I suffered now keep me up anyway
Follow these directions:
Do not go to bed with a full stomach.
Drink a cup of warm milk before bed.
Do not watch tv or read in bed. Bed is for sleeping.
After you get home from work, but before dinner, do the most physically demanding activity your doctor clears you to do. Ideally, you will jog, stairmaster, treadmill, lift weights, dig holes in the yard, until you are ready to drop.
Don't eat so late you go to bed full (see above). The workout before dinner will also take away your appetite which will help you lose weight which will help you sleep.
After you go to bed have relations with your wife. I'm serious. The poster above was correct. Hopefully she'll be willing to help out here.
This may be enough, but if it is not, squeeze your toes together (flex) after taking a big breath (good advice above), hold for a ten-count. Repeat for every area of your body.
Don't think about real life things like work, romance, trapshooting, etc. Think about fantasy things like you are a intergallactic enforcer who all the space chicks dig. Keep at it until you nod off.
Obviously, if you didn't roll out of bed until noon, you are not going to fall asleep at 10:00PM.
Try to keep to a schedule. Try to get eight hours, but try not to oversleep.
Get all over the exhausting PT regiment. You need to sweat and pant. You'll find it gets a lot out of your system and the body won't have the luxury of worrying about all your annoying brain (annoying to you, not to me) is worrying about.
email me at [email protected] (remove XXX) to find out where to send the thank-you check.
P.S., if you are losing sleep because you suck at your job, make the effort to get better or get a differnt job.
If you are freaking out because you are cheating on your wife, stop. It really is that simple. Doing the right thing in life is tough. Curiously enough, it will make sleeping much easier, however.
I hope you take this seriously and put this into action. If you do and it works let me know. If you do and it doesn't, tell me as well and I will research more and try to help. If you don't bother or half-arse about it, well, you get what you pay for.
My secret is to have a regular pattern, be worn out by bed time, and have a comfortable bed. Teaching requires me to be on my feet all day and to deal with a sea of constant interruptions. By evening, I am worn out.
I go to bed around 10:00 PM and sleep on an extra firm mattress under a pile of wool blankets. In the winter, it is usually at least 3 and sometimes 4 blankets. In the summer, one or two blankets will do.
These blankets are white wool British navy surplus I got from the Sportsman's Guide about 10 years ago. They have been washed hundreds of times and are very soft. Washing in woolite every few weeks keeps them soft. I go right to sleep and sleep until the alarm sounds at 4:45 AM. The bed is so warm that I don't want to get up.
I used to toss and turn all night under a sheet and light blanket. I remembered the pile of blankets and stiff mattress from a deer shack I sleep in during hunting season. I slept like a child while deer hunting so I tried it at home and it worked wonders.
The wife and I have argued for years about my snoring so this works well for her too. We have been married for 36 years and have a good sex life. Sleeping alone, most of the time, works for us.
