In your opinion, whats the best Humphrey Bogart movie?

The best movie I've ever saw was Casablanca...

The best acting from Bogie was in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, along with Walter Huston and Tim Holt. JMO

Angels with Dirty Faces

The Maltese Falcon

Casablanca

High Sierra

To Have and Have Not

The Petrified Forest

The Big Sleep

Key Largo

The African Queen

Sabrina

The Barefoot Contessa

We're No Angels.....A Christmas classic, IMO

There are many more.

I like them all, but these are my favorites

Casablanca

Maltese Falcon

The Big Sleep

The Caine Mutiny

Treasure of the Sierra Madre

Sahara (maybe not his best but I like it)

They Drive By Night (another that's not his best, but I like it)

And the one where he and Peter Ustinov are escaped convicts who help a store owner. A third convict has a venomous pet snake that bites Basil Rathbone. I can't remember the name.

Edit- How could I forget: To Have and Have Not

None of them---I never liked the guy's movies. But that is jest my opinion.

Chuck

P.S. It's probably because I was forced to watch some of them in college.

Yeah Chuck, when you were in College, silent movies were on the way out. Some people just can't stand change.

They all had some merit and were at least interesting. Bogart was one of many during his era of "real men". All we watch now are TCM & The Western channel for entertainment. John Wayne, Gary Cooper, Walter Brennan, Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin, James Cagney, Kirk Douglas, Randolph Scott, Clint Walker and the list goes on.

Check out this character actor that was always one of my favorite bad guys.
Leo Gordon.

I can't think of a contemporary actor today that I would pay to go see.

I've never (and I'm 66 years old) understood the attraction to Humphrey Bogart. Small guy, homely, bad and I mean bad teeth. I really like Have and Have Not but it's to watch Bacall and Walter Brennan and the French guy's wife. Tried to watch Maltese Falcon recently (TCM) but the acting seemed really bad to me.
