We are attempting to site a new club in Florida. So far, the objections raised by opponents have all been about the perceived noise levels. Does anyone out there have any studies done by a professional sound engineer or firm that establish a certifiable base db level at various distances from the firing line? Thanks for your help.

In this area the powers that be check the noise level leaving the club property. There are a lot of factors that affect how far a sound wave will travel. I understand that the current standards here are 70 decibels.

The above link will perhaps help you. Near the bottom of the page is some information on sound (noise). Bill Malcolm

Live Oak Environmental Engineers. They did ours and found that the road noise was greater than the shotgun noise at our property line. In Texas if you do not emit more than 72 db at your property line for a continuous 8 hours it is not a problem and the neighbors cannot pursue you for it.
