Just took delivery of my new MX2000. It has 14&3/4" LOP which is too long for me. I want to remove the factory recoil pad and screw on a thinner one to reduce the LOP. How do I remove the factory recoil pad?
They use to be glued on with a rigid expoy. You can take an exacto knife and cut the edge, then take a paint scraper and get between the pad and the butt and separate it. It can be a 2 man job.
Carefully scribe the outside of the seam with a knife to make sure there is no finish coat overspray that might chip off while separting the pad/stock.
Take a hair dryer and warm stock/pad glue. Take monafilament fishing line and work it in between the pad and stock. Using a sawing motion work your way along the seam.
