Went to ship a shotgun barrel and was told by UPS that they will ship nothing to do with a gun. I pointed out it was nothing more than a steel tube and had no way to fire. Again I was told "Nothing to do with a gun". For all of us who have devoted a large part our lives to shooting sports, I urge you to use another shipper for yourself and your business shipping.

I have never had problems shipping guns or gun parts via UPS. Sent my 682 receiver to the gunsmith and used UPS. I told them what it was and insured it. Just received a rifle trigger via UPS. I'll bet money you went to a privately owned UPS store or you got some knucklehead that doesn't know what they are talking about.

hangover,......my local UPS depot did same thing to me twice last 12 months. Uneducated, and made their "own" call, despite trying to speak with them. Most UPS businesses are great, but some don't know or care to know whats legal to ship and whats not. I even had local driver for UPS shake his head and comment on this instance. Plus, they don't "read". Signature required carries no meaning with anyone anymore.

I once went to a UPS "store" to ship just a buttock (no receiver). The person behind the counter literally jumped when I told her it was a gunstock, she would have nothing to do with it. The main UPS centers are probably the way to go.

These are vendor operated stores with their own idiots and agendas. It varies from store to store and is not UPS policy. We have one at Frederick, MD with such a policy and boycott them.

Had to have been a female, I hate to say that, but...

I had that happen only once here at one of the local contract UPS stores when I dropped off a gun to return to a customer. I didn't have it ready in time for the UPS guy to pick up and wanted it to go out that day.

The gal tried to tell me it was against UPS policy to ship guns. After picking myself up off the floor from laughing, I told her she was about as wrong as she could be and offered here a side bet of $100 that I was correct.

She accepted the shipment but demanded to know my license number, "...if that's what they call it." I told her to look at the shipping tape... it has all my info on it including the FFL number.

Never, ever had a problem again, and in fact she and I look forward to seeing each other now.

I have used UPS more times than I care to remember and never had a problem, I do take guns to the main terminal rather than the UPS stores just to avoid any possible hassles ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I quit going to the local store 1/4 mile away because their prices were out of sight. I drive 30 min to a terminal and pay 1/4 the price and nothing but good service.
Shipped a gun to wenig last week and didn't get a question about it but do you want it insured.

I tried to ship a shotgun through a UPS store, no go. You must use a main hub. I was told by the " UPS Store " that they don't carry a FFL only the main centers do. Hope this helps. Dan. ( Md )

You cannot ship via a UPS Store, it must be from the main UPS facility in your area.

Your packages that contain firearms will not be accepted for shipment at UPS Drop Boxes, with UPS SonicAir® service, at locations of The UPS Store or any third-party retailer, or with international services.

You can only ship your package that contains a firearm from UPS daily pickup accounts and through UPS Customer Centers

-------

As is life, you may find a store that will ship, as those working may not be aware of the restictions, but against the law.
