Doesn't matter on how you ruin a perfectly good shotgun barrel. A drill press used to drill holes or send it to someone who puts holes in the barrel by various means will get the same result; a buggered barrel. Do whatever makes you happy, but I can think of many ways to spend the money of porting and devaluation of a barrel that seem a lot more attractive.

Ported barrels on an O/U make for a very good cheese grater…… hold it muzzle down and the cheese exits the barrels and right where you need it. Use the bead for precise placement on spaghetti, but if using a high rib, aim a little higher.

My thoughts, and my request, is for a skeet gun, an old 28" O/U made by Nikko. I have two trap guns, KX 6 S and a 682 Gold E for doubles that are just fine the way they are without porting. Skeet and 5 stand is a different story. The very good shooters all seem to shoot ported barrels.
