I need a quality gunsmith to replace the top lever spring on a high quality European double gun. I am terrified of having the screws burred up, especially since they are heavily engraved. I am in central New Jersey and would like to be able to bring and pick up the gun personally. Does anyone know of such a craftsman?

John Trout, in Juliustown must be near you in central Jersey. He's an excellent gunsmith and has probably forgotten more than most others know about those old guns. He's close so there's no shipping. Just call before you go. His number is 609 894-2727.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the help.

Actually, I bought this gun in 1965 from Abercrombie and Fitch (Griffion and Howe) and have used it a great deal over the years. However, I heard a while ago that Griffin and Howe was not what it used to be. That's why I was looking for an alternative.

Thanks again to all.

Another friend who has used Giacomo for his Perrazzi suggested that I take it to Giacomo as well. Not a bad idea.
