Its that time of year again and once more this shoot has grown by leaps and bounds. Last year we set a record attendance of 2,063 shooters. This year there are already 2,500 registered junior high and high school shooters. Nebraska Game and Parks sponsors this shoot along with the Nebraska Trapshooters Association. Go Nebraska. Hope to see you there. I will post some pics for your pleasure as some others will probably do the same here. Should be some good targets as Nebraska will have all new Pat Traps throwing them this year. Terry

Awesome.

We had about 300 when Lincoln Southeast won the team title in 1984, with a whopping 453/500 - we only shot 100 singles each back then - and we walked off with it by 7 targets over the second place team.

If you bump that up to 906/1000 to compensate for the kids shooting 200 singles now, we're short by about...oh, what? 85 or 90 birds on a team score?

LMAO. Of course, of our whole team I was the only one with a "real" trap gun - an 870TB trap. Everyone else shot field guns of some variety. And back then our "season" was about 8 weeks in the spring - shooting 50 targets twice a week and 100 on saturday at a shoot someplace, so maybe 800-900 targets for the whole year. I'll bet that's not even a good week for the kids today.

I broke 95 in the singles to finish one out of the shootoff for champion. I reckon that 95 this year would have left me 5 birds short. Story of my life.

Sure wish the news would report about the 2000 plus kids shooting, having fun, being safe, and not ONE bomb threat, accident, or other headliner just good kids, great adults and an awesome time for over 2000 shooters.

The forecast is right on because it is already snowing here. Ear Gems is already set up to do ear plugs and embroidery. Good thing we have an enclosed trailer for you to shop in. Snow is already 1 to 2 inches. Terry

Darn, Lead Miner, didn't want to hear that. I'm 30 miles west and no snow here. Just rain and sleet. I'll go dig out another layer of undies. Will be there in the morning with the team. See ya then. Stay warm.

What a great State youth program!! We, in Missouri are exuberant with 850 kids and only 50 degree rain for 1 day. Those cornhuskers are tough, and ready and willing to compete....and win.....Go Nebraska...

See you good folks in June at the State Shoot. Stop by and say "HOWDY"...Carol and Merlyn

Thursday my 6 th grade son shot 68 of 100 at his first state shoot. Got his average up to 33 at the meets. Had fun and he wants to shoot more. Thanks to all the Beatrice coaches although he had to shoot for Diller-Odell at state.

Merlyn, hello to you and Carol. Good to hear you're still kickin and thanks for the complement about the shoot. We've all been looking into a rather cool(cold?) wind for the last two days and tomorrow isn't going to be any better. The kids are tough and determined.

Looking forward to seeing you in June.

Take care,

Steve Elliott
