MX3 Special / MX8 ?

At a vendor at the Southern Grand at the Silver Dollar today...
Saw a Perazzi for sale that had the action engraved with MX3 Special but the barrel had gold-inlayed lettering MX8.
Should I assume it did not come from the factory that way ?

That wouldn't keep me from buying it, especially if you have it checked out by a Perazzi mechanic...... and you buy it for a used hybrid price. A lot of folks like that tapered rib and no side ribs on the MX3S. That's probably why it's gone.
