Depending on a shooters build, long neck, short thick or thin a higher rib aids in rotating you head to a more upright position which may improve vision and comfort. A higher rib may also improve comfort by allowing the recoil pad to be place in the shoulder pocket while maintaining the upright head postion.

The best and least expensive way to find if you're a high rib canidate is to make a mock up out of balsa wood and tape to your existing rib. Assuming you have an adjustable comb, you can make the rib as high as you want and start cutting it down until you find your comfort zone. Spray painting the wood flat black may cause less distraction to you. If you need rib beads use cut off straight pins or larger push pins as beads. Once you establish if a high rib works for you, then you can order a rib with those height dimensions.
