Date on bottom of monoblock of original barrel. Ex: "673 = June 1973. That is the date barrels were proofed, not date gun was completed. I have a gun with proof dates of 1970 and original owner bought gun new in 1973. Have another dated 1976, but gun was bought new from du Pont in 2002. So, it is just an indication. Dieter Krieghoff says guns were USUALLY (not always) completed about 3 months after proof dates. However, this still does not indicate when gun was actually sold new. Not much help but I hope this helps to some degree.
