yes sir the button behind the trigger guard on left side. suppose to un cock the gen if you have the trigger pulled back. the button works great till you set the trigger then wont release it?.... Are you talking about pushing the safety (button ?) to open the gun after setting the trigger and not wanting fire the weapon?
It is out of time. The action slide lock hook is hitting the lug on the hammer. It does not re-cock the hammer, the hammer is re-cocked when the action slide is released and slides the breech bolt over the hammer and resets the sear. Usually caused as the end of the trigger is worn away. It is called a short trigger. This is my guess without having it in hand.model 12 release trigger new when set cant push button to unset
