A Y Model 12 Trap is as good as any Mdl 12 ever made, but has very little collector value. Actually, I expect prices and demand are way down for the higher pricey grades, and it may not come back, the new generation seems to prefer a different type gun. The checkering on this one looks like many Y models that I have seen, there may be a different finish. If you look at some of the auction/for sale sites and look at a NIB Y you'll notice that the wood has a flat/ satin type finish. Anything below $1000 for a good Y Mdl 12 Trap is a good deal, great shooting gun and will last longer than you will....JMHO WC

George.....The early Y guns had leftover wood from the 60's and the same checkering pattern. When Winchester needed new wood made and checkered the pattern was simplified. Sam's wood is factory in my opinion.

I have received several PMs that agree that this stock is orig---It has an early Y2007xx sr# which may mean that the stock came from the old pre64 stock---
It has hand checkering not stamped checkering and orig win pistol grip plate.
