Last Saturday, May 4th, the Minneapolis Gun Club hosted the Minnesota SCTP Trapshooting Championship. The weather wasn't too bad compared to what MN has been having. It was overcast but dry and light winds from the north. The ground was a little soggy from the 6-8" of snow that fell and melted a few days earlier but the kids are a lot more tolerant of those conditions than us "seasoned" shooters. We had a few participants shoot their first 25 straights and high score was 95. Thanks to everyone who participated, all the coaches and volunteers who have helped with the training of these fine young adults and of course the Potterfield's, who have contributed huge sums of money to make this program so attractive.

Thanks Jim for what you and MGC are doing for the youth shooters of our state. I understand that MGC is providing facility for a large number of High School teams. I have been fortunate to spend time with Mark and the Hopkins group for the last 3 years at Park. At Park we provide facility for 4 H.S. teams. What has been happening the last few years in our state with youth/high school trap shooting will no doubt boost the future of the sport.

That smile is priceless....all the smiles last weekend were priceless. Seeing the kids smashing targets and having a good time makes everything worth it.

To see the results go to the above website, click on shooting activities and you'll see the SCTP results in the drop down menu.

There were 63 kids on Saturday for the Trapshooting Championship and 20 on Sunday for the Skeet Championship.

Dewayne, you and everybody at Park Gun Club have done a great job with the schools shooting out of there. At the Minneapolis Gun Club we have 15 schools, 630 kids, shooting league here this season. We amended our CUP to be able to be open on Mondays just for the kids. The Minnesota State High School Clay Target League has done an outstanding job organizing this program

Excellent Report Jimmy Bowen:

That is really neat when you can post lots of pictures of the youth
shooters and their coaches etc. Plus you showed the printout with
names and scores. Super job on your part and that of all the Minneapolis
Gun Club for putting this Youth Shoot on.

See you guys at the State Shoot
