I'm helping my neighbor dispose of some shooting supplies, reloaders, powder, etc and came across this box of .45 ACP Ball ammo. Can anyone shed some light on this item ie: age, collector value if any, origin? The only markings on the box are on the top as shown in the pic. The cartridges themselves show some age and deterioration.
Thanks!
Denny K.

The headstamp should have a date code.

WCC 68 for example. Winchester manufactured in 1968.

The box says it was repacked in June 1944.

I've shot several boxes of those, but they looked a little better than the ones you have there. I still have three or four boxes left. Winchester and Federal. I believe I'd set those on a shelf with your collection.

Thanks to all for the input. I believe these will be donated to someone who has an interest in this stuff.

If you decide to shoot it make sure the gun is immediately cleaned properly and not with you’d over the counter wonder cleaners. WWII ammo was primed using potassium chlorate compound, corrosive. Soap and water can be used, Best just put it away as a collector box of ammo.

More common than you would imagine.
I have a box of 45’s and 3 or 4 boxes of 30-06 packaged at Lake City.
FIL brought back from ww2.
