Organizers say Stears has been a champion of the sport, not only with his shooting abilities, but his willingness to help new shooters and his stewardship of the sport.

I had the pleasure to shoot an astounding number of targets with Mike. It was always highly competitive. One of my best friends. I'm sorry I couldn't be there for this but hopefully we'll be shooting some targets together soon. This is well deserved, amazing shooter, great friend, and as helpful to the world of shooting as they come. Congratulations.
