Having trouble with oil spitting out the cap on pump.looks like I will need a rebuild on the rear cylinder, seals i hope. Is this very common and has anybody done this? I have taken it apart to clean but no luck. also the press was not cycling to the top just before the oil spitting out the air overflow tube, thanks for any help and suggestions.

maybe not enough oil in it, are you using 10W-30 motor oil? Or 30 weight motor oil, either one should be ok, Usually if cylinder is not going all the way it will spurt oil as the pump is sucking in air due to low oil in resovoir.

The used HydroMec I bought from a friend many moons back was filled with Auto Transmission Fluid. Still in there...topped it off when I rebuilt the cylinder and still going strong.
