Mec had a bad run of bolts at one time. Give them a call or get a grade 8 bolt at the hardware store is what I've heard some folks did
MEC 9000 GN Problem
I have a one year old 9000 GN. Twice, the pivot cross bolt that the handle pivots on has snapped. It has broken exactly in the middle.
I have not been forcing the machine. The bolt must be flexing enough to fatigue and break is all that I can figure out. MEC has been great and sent me new bolts. Any one else have experience with this?

Go to lowes, buy a grade 8 bolt, and be done with it.
