Here's a possible (or at least one of this type). The 99 Plus Micro has an already shortened stock, a recoil reducer, and adjustable rib, and an adjustable length of pull. Starting price likely looks high to you but, but if your Grandson starts shooting, then becomes more interested in the gals, you should be able to get most or all of your purchase price back. ;-) Good luck.

K80, I would agree with Joe recoil is a major consideration for a youth. SL 900, K80 is buying a gun for a 12YO,, a Hammered gun is Not the suggested action. A hammer sets a kid up for failer,,its a safety issue. That would explain why its no longer produced imo. GL

You might want to consider the CZ 712 ALS. It is a 12 gauge with an adjustable stock. It can be adjusted for length of pull by a push lever adjustment and the soft comb is adjustable for up & down. It also comes with a pretty spongy recoil pad on it. Available in a 26" & 28" barrel with choke tubes. Around $500.00 new. Check the above website.

I'd stay with 12ga 1100 and load down the shells. The lighter 20ga guns can kick more than a 12 that is a little heavier. The 1100's recoil less than Beretta auto's imo.

SX12 - what? Turn him off??? My 11 year old granddaughter is a normal size girl and is shooting a 32" BT99 micro with Gracoil - she shoots 200-300 full power STS and AA loads a week without any recoil issues at all - she loves the gun and would not go back to her Beretta auto. If she ever decides she just has to have the next step up, the gun will sell for what we paid for it.
