Wasn't sure if I should put this here, WTB, or gunsmithing, so I took a chance and figured it would get the most views here.

I need some high grade scrap wood to have a couple 1911 grips made from. Needs to be at least 5” long x 1 3/4” wide x 7/8" thick (as spec'ed by grip maker).

Looking for something worthwhile, so the higher the grade the better. I'm hoping that since these are cutoffs I can find something very pretty but pretty cheap since the grips are going to cost 70 or 80 bucks to have made.

Hoping to find something that isn't too exotic and might be tough to machine, finish, or checker (grips will be fully checkered). English walnut would be nice, but I'm open to other options too.

Let me know what you have, how much you have to get for it, and a pic or two would be nice if possible.
