I currently shoot an XT with the monte carlo stock. I'm looking to get into something with a little more adjustability. My budget is about $5000. I wouldn't mind a combo gun but most I look into are over that budget.
I know the consensus will be to go shoot as many as I can and pick the one that fits best. I am going to try my friends 725 Trap hopefully this week. I'm just wondering what other guns I should consider out there. I do know a guy who is selling a new Caesar Guerini Summit Trap combo but it is getting up above my budget.
The other crappy thing is that I live in Canada so everything costs 30% more.
If you're truly just looking for more adjustability, then sending it to Tron is the way to go. I sent him my son's XT last winter and had an adjustable comb and butt plate installed. Turned it around in 8 days and his work was fantastic. Highly recommend his work. You won't be sorry.
The least expensive way would be to stick with what you have, but if you decide on a new gun, check out the Beretta's from Joel Etchen. A few have already mentioned it and I second their statements, it's one heck of a gun for the money. I couldn't be happier with mine.
I have a unmolested Perazzi MX3 Combo 34" & 32". This is the model that Dan Bonillas shoots. Price is $4500.00. You can't go wrong with a Perazzi Combo at this price, that hasn't been modified. They also tend to go up in value instead of down.
I will sell you a Perazzi combo for $5000 usd. 34" top single, 30" o/u, ported, with adj comb and a Rad recoil reducer. Two forends and two triggers ALL MATCHING s/n. AC date code, blue is thinning, cased in a Perazzi case.
I really appreciate the offers for guns, but living in Canada makes it difficult to purchase a gun in the states and import it. I like my XT and shoot it well. This may just be a case of me wanting to try something different and I enjoyed the feeling of the 725 compared to my XT. The slimmer forend was nice as well as it seemed like the swingweight was lighter. I'll try to shoot my buddies and see how it goes. If I don't like it, I'm going to keep shooting my XT while continuing searching for a new gun.
I bought a 725 with an adjustable comb and I've put close to 1000 rounds through it.. I absolutely love the gun and I've been shooting 23-25 all day long.. I looked everywhere for the best price and finally bought it at cabelas. I also used my veterans discount and try to get a 5-10% discount coupon.. I save enough to buy a very nice Nigrini gun case and I was in it for less than $3000.00. (Just a suggestion)
I would check into Cole Guns over in Maine, and now I think down in Florida...
