The longbird shot is, Tickets are sold for a stated amount, after all tickets are sold by a predetermined time, they draw 3 numbers, first drawn shoots for 50% of the pot, second ticket drawn shoots for 30% of the pot, 3rd ticket drawn shoots for 30% of the pot, No one breaks the target pot rolls over to the weeks shoot.
Club usually has a shoot point to be shot from, a distant from the trap and at an angle off to one side to make it harder to break.
Pot builds and more money to be won.
Club furnishes 3 dram 1 1/8th oz of 7 1/2s new shells, manager puts the shell in the chamber of the gun, so no cheating of bigger loads.
Generally most clubs will have a set aside, seed money, in case all three targets are broke. This will generally be between 10 and 20%.
