I agree that something needs to be done.
The hide-behind names are a crutch for those not willing to link an opinion with their name. I don't ever expect to agree with everything other people say - but it has a lot more validity and earns a greater degree of consideration when it's not muttered from behind a curtain.
I have always signed my name to these posts, and when the topic has been personal (rather than club related) included an e-mail address if someone wants to go off of the forum. Agree with me or not - at very least you know who I am and what I stand for... that way when we meet at a shoot you'll be willing to shake my hand a share a squad with me.
Would I support the "real names only policy?" You bet.
