I have inherited a Lefever receiver and stock (I do not know where the barrel is). The receiver is of a 12-gauge single-barrel break-open type and the serial number is 3246. The stock is broken and may not be repairable. On either side of the receiver is engraved a duck in flight and the words “LEFEVER ARMS CO ITHACA NY”. There is surface rust but the action inside is relatively clean and works perfectly. My question is, should I bother cleaning the outside of the receiver? Is there a best way? Anyone have an orphan barrel or stock/forend that might fit this receiver? Thanks for any advice.
