I watched 'em take off and land at Albrook AFB in the Panama Canal Zone during the Cuban Missile Crisis--They would climb out, headed East, on what was called "High Altitude Sampling Missions"--Yeah, RIGHT! :) :) :)

Personally saw this at NAS Moffet Field. It is amazing. I could watch it 50 times and it would not get old. The takeoff is equally neat, almost rocket-like. If you ever get the chance go see either one.

I live not far from Beale AFB and occasionally see one of the U-2's flying. I've always enjoyed watching them flying around, and hearing the sound of their engines.

Pretty amazing plane that has been in the inventory for over 50 years (obviously updated)!
