FWIW I had similar problem with an SKB 85TSS recently. Dry fired about 25 empty hulls with the stock removed. About 5 of the 25 would fire very early like a pull thru. Taking the advice of a TS.com member I cleaned some over lubrication from the hook and pin itself. 3 boxes later its back to its old reliable self. I think a release hook needs a bit of drag.
