In my state VA we have the VSSA www.myvssa.org. I'm also a member of the NRA. I'm a life member in both groups and glad I am. Both groups will help fight the anti gunners and stop the Obama group. If your not a memeber now PLEASE PLEASE look into it and join them. If your not a memebr in the NRA PLEASE JOIN THEM. Look at your state and see if there is a state group that will help with your gun rights. This is to important to over look. It will not cost that much to join both groups compaired to what it could cost you in the long run. Please do so before you can't and wish you did.

Hydra. Thanx for the help. All the political 'grass fires' start at the local level. Each NRA State Association needs support (increased membership) to make their voices stronger and more clear.

In New York State, you can join S.C.O.P.E. (Shooters Committee On Political Education ). $20/year and a bi-monthly newsletter. Many counties have their own SCOPE chapters. Also, make sure you JOIN THE NRA !! Larry Evans

Ditto; join the NRA as we will have to fight to keep the guns and the gun sports that we love. Today will start the fight as now anti-gunners control the White House, Senate & House, not to mention individual States. Good idea about the state gun groups. Darrell

Have your gun club become 100% NRA. If your not NRA you pay an extra $10 and become an associate member. We did it and our club membership actually increased to 160 members. Our law enforcement members also must be NRA.

Also, we became a Friends of the NRA committee last year and do the dinner. This allows you to apply for grants for half of your net and the other half going to the NRA.

Both are succesfull ways to benefit the NRA and your club at same time.

If Hussein Obama and his new Democratic friends do what we all fear they will and start in with gun bans or more restrictions and taxes the NRA's membership will swell. With the Republicans in charge there was little threat. Now everything is going to be different. Elections have consequences. Reid, Pelosi and Hussein Obama. God help America.

Crime and Law Enforcement

Support Local Law Enforcement: President Obama and Vice President Biden are committed to fully funding the COPS program to put 50,000 police officers on the street and help address police brutality and accountability issues in local communities. Obama and Biden also support efforts to encourage young people to enter the law enforcement profession, so that our local police departments are not understaffed because of a dearth of qualified applicants.


Reduce Crime Recidivism by Providing Ex-Offender Supports:

America is facing an incarceration and post-incarceration crisis in urban communities. Obama and Biden will create a prison-to-work incentive program, modeled on the successful Welfare-to-Work Partnership, and work to reform correctional systems to break down barriers for ex-offenders to find employment.
End the Dangerous Cycle of Youth Violence: Obama and Biden support innovative local programs, like the CeaseFire program in Chicago, which implement a community-based strategy to prevent youth violence and have been proven effective.


Address Gun Violence in Cities:

Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

i think there are 2 organizations you shud belong to-- as a matter of fact- it ought to be mandatory if you are a gun owner!!-- NRA and NSSF--if you dont know much about the later- the national shooting sports foundation is non- political(?) and are the ones who have the "first shots program" -very good on promoting new and uninformed prospective shooters and their newletter keeps you abreast of industry news with all sorts of gun issue info!!!
